Camp FAQ's |
Is there Before/After care available?
We do not offer "wrap" care for camp, However, one or more of our counselors may be interested/available to provide care, depending on the week and staffing. We are happy to ask our counselors and connect you. What is the staff:camper ratio? Every week is staffed with a full time camp director and dedicated horsemanship instructor for horse related instruction and guidance for riding groups of 3-4 (typically). The remainder of the campers not actively riding is supervised by counselors and junior counselors, usually 2-3. What about holidays? The Independence Day holiday coincides with the first camp week (Pre K) If you have holiday travel plans and are unable to attend, your week may be prorated to accommodate the 4th. What about illness or unexpected change of plans? Please keep your child home if they are ill. Just like school, they must remain home 24 hours after fever or illness. There is no refund for sick days or other days missed. If you must cancel your week for any reason, your deposit may be applied to another week if available or put towards any other service at the stables such as lesson, parties or gift certificates. What does supervision around the horses look like? Much like the riding time, any activities in and around the barn and horses is HIGHLY supervised. Children are required to wear helmets in the barn area and around horses at all times, even when not riding. Counselors guide children closely with all activities. Are the helmets used all ASTM approved? YES. All of our helmets are ASTM approved and required for use at our facility. We inspect helmets regularly for damage and replace when needed. Helmets are sanitized throughout the day and before/after each use. Campers may bring/wear their own ASTM safety certified helmet if they choose. We recommend no top braids, high pony's or up-do hair styles as this can interfere with proper helmet fit. |
