We are an outdoor venue. If/when weather prevents us from riding safely outdoors either in the arena or trails due to, but not limited to excessive heat, storms, unsafe footing, unpredictable Rochester weather, etc., our instructional staff will happily offer fun non-mounted activities such as grooming, ground handling, learning parts of the horse and tack, feeding, making treats, trick training, bathing, braiding, decorating a horse, hand leading, etc. Please let your instructor know if you would like to do these activities in place of riding or if you would rather reschedule all together. FAQ's Can I ride with my child? No. Our instructional staff and horses specialize in children and youth riding only. Do we need to bring a helmet? We provide ASTM certified horseback riding helmets as required by law. We sanitize helmets before and after each use. How young can I start my child? If your child can sit in the saddle without support and take basic direction, they're ready to ride! Our instructors support our young riders. but parents are encouraged to assist with very little children. (toddler-pre-k) Parents~ if doing so, please wear appropriate footwear (closed-toed shoes, sneaks or boots. No flip flops, crocs, sandals) Do you do special needs riding? We welcome special needs children! We require that a parent, legal guardian or designated responsible adult remain with the child in a support capacity for the duration of the lesson, which may include walking along side the horse when riding. Ability to support the child, and closed toed shoes are required. Can we take pictures? Of course! Our horses love photo ops and are very good at posing for pics. Can we feed the horse? Our horses are part of our working team and are not allowed to "eat on the job". They get healthy treats with their daily meals.
