Beginner Lessons

Many of our horses are beloved senior horses who now enjoy a quieter pace of life. Because of this, our riding program is focused primarily on children and beginner youth riders, while teens and adults are encouraged to enjoy our non-riding, hands-on horse experiences, trail walks, grooming sessions, and farm visits.

Beginner Lesson - 30 minutes. A fun, confidence building lesson for beginner riders focused on basic riding skills, horse safety, and hands-on learning. $40

Beginner Lesson - 45 minutes. An extended beginner lesson with more time in the saddle to build balance, confidence, and connection with the horse at a relaxed pace. $50

Groom & Ride- 20 minutes. A gentle introductory lesson for young children featuring hands-on horse grooming, learning about the horse, and a short instructional ride designed for new or hesitant riders. $25

Ground Lesson- 30 minutes. A hands-on, non-riding lesson for all ages focused on horse safety, grooming, communication, and building confidence and comfort around horses. May include hand-leading on trails or arena. $30

Unicorn Rides- 20 or 30 minute unicorn experience includes a fully decorated mini or full size unicorn in rainbow or solid color mane and tail extensions and horn. Plenty of time for petting, hugging, riding, brushing, and of course, adorable photos. Rates are the same as the 20 or 30 minute lesson rates plus an additional upcharge of $25 for decoration. Unicorns are currently available Mondays and Wednesdays, by appointment only.

Gratuity appreciated for exceptional service.

No-shows will incur a charge of 30% of the lesson price to compensate staff who have shown up to prepare for the lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring a helmet?
No, we provide ATM certified riding helmets as required by law. Bike helmets are not allowed. We sanitize our helmets before and after use.

Can I stay with my child during the lesson?
We do not recommend parents accompany students as it can sometimes be a distraction. IF your child needs support to maintain balance in the saddle, we encourage parents to help out. If so, please be sure to wear closed footwear (no crocs, flip flops or sandals)

Can we take pictures?
YES! Our horses love selfies and are very good at posing for photos.

Can we bring treats to feed the horse?
Our horses are an important part of our working team and are not allowed to "eat on the job". Some of them have dietary restrictions and/or need portion control. They get healthy treats and supplements included in their daily meals to maintain a balanced diet.

Should I tip my instructor?
Gratuity is not automatically added to any of our pricing. If you feel you received exceptional service, our hard working instructors would be very appreciative of a tip in any amount!

What happens if it rains?
We are an all outdoor venue. If/when weather prevents us from riding safely outdoors due to factors such as excessive heat, rain, poor air quality, unsafe footing, typical "Rochester weather", we will offer other fun, non-mounted activities such as grooming, ground handling, learning parts of the horse and tack, feeding, trick training or other training techniques, bathing, braiding, hand leading, etc. Please let your instructor know if this is of interest or if you'd like to reschedule your lesson altogether. We know how important that "horsey time" is and will do our best to accommodate our students.
